Google Home

I like to talk about products and companies that I like.  Today's post is about Google Home.

Google makes good products and has good packaging so I like to buy from them when I have a need.  Several months ago the handsome husband ordered a Google Home for us.  I naturally thought he was nuts.  I had heard of the Amazon Echo or Alexa, and I wasn't very impressed.  What do you need a talking speaker for right?  Sometimes the handsome husband knows best and this was certainly one of those times.

Google Home has changed our lives for the better.  I think it's one of those products that once you have it, you can't (or don't want to)live without it.

I can ask it anything I am wondering about.  What's the weather tomorrow, what is my schedule, what temperature is it outside, can dogs eat peanut butter, how do you say good morning in Spanish?  It quite literally answers any question I ask it.

You can program it with your Nest thermostat.  This way you can ask it what the temperature is inside the house and what the humidity is in a particular zone.  You can tell it to go up or down a degree.  You can program the Nest to sense when your phone is out of a given range and it will adjust the temperature accordingly to save energy.

You can create a shopping list that you can pull up on your phone at the store.  Each time I think of something we need, I just tell Google, and it adds it to my personal shopping list.  I can access my shopping list online so I can manually type in things that I need as well.  When I'm at the store I shop from the list and swipe each item as I get it.

You can connect Google Home to your lights and to other appliances with smart outlets.  We have a few lights connected as well as a fan in our room.  It's so nice to be able to go to bed and tell Google to turn on the fan and turn off the light.

You can connect it to your TV so that you can tell it to play a show or movie by command.  You can even tell it to turn on or off the TV with just your voice.

You can program a 'good morning' and 'good night' routine where it will tell you things about your following day's schedule and turn on or off any lights and appliances that you have preset into that routine.

Google Home offers a variety of speakers and accessories to streamline your life and keep you organized.  I'm typically a person that scoffs at making life easier because I question how lazy and convenience driven the human race has already become.  I do believe Google Home is a great product with sustainable packaging.  They get Betty's seal of approval.

Google Home, in all of its glory.
