I like to write about products that work well and are built to last. Life is easier when you invest in quality products that you can own for a long time. Today I want to talk about Dyson.
About five years ago I bought a Dirt Devil handheld vacuum. I needed something for crumbs and the like and I thought it would be okay. My husband took one look at it and told me to take it back because it is garbage. "What am I supposed to use then?" I asked. He told me he would get me a handheld vacuum that isn't garbage.
For Mother's day that year I got a handheld Dyson DC34. Maybe some women wouldn't like getting a glorified "dustbuster" for Mother's day. I am not like other women. Before owning this glorious piece of functional art, I thought Dyson was just overpriced hype. It is all it's cracked up to be and more. I could use the DC34 to smash up your sh!tty dust buster, suck up the pieces, and be ready for more. This handheld keeps its charge for a long time and is always hungry for crumbs, hair, sand, dirt, dust bunnies, or whatever else has fallen to your floor. I like my floors to be pristine and I use the DC34 to keep them that way. I once used it to suck up chunks of black olives that were barfed onto the frieze carpet. It isn't designed for wet messes but I used it anyway and it was amazing. It would also be amazing if little kids could not barf on frieze carpet but you just can't have everything in life.
In 2017 my husband said we should get an upright Dyson. Our vacuum was working at the time but pre-Dyson, I seemed to suffer a vacuum cleaner curse. The curse had followed me most of my life and I've lost track of my vacuum death toll. I once bought a vacuum that started on fire after getting it home from the store and trying it for the first time. That all changed with Dyson.
My husband surprised me one day with the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Animal Upright Vacuum. I remember it fondly in my heart like it was only yesterday. I was so excited that I vacuumed the house that night even though I had just vacuumed a day or two before. The Big Ball Animal has some impressive power and suction. I think the canister filled twice and like I said, I had just vacuumed! It is still running strong and we vacuum at least once a week. It has been abused by angry teenagers who have been forced against their will to vacuum and it still looks brand new.
Dyson vacuums are very high quality and worth the hefty price tag. I love that there are no bags and I can empty it right into the compost tumbler. The upright has an extra long cord so you don't have to keep moving the plug around. The only thing I could possibly suggest as an improvement would be an optional holster for the handheld? Just kidding, these products are perfect!
