Dear Betty: Reader Question 3/8/2019

Dear Betty,
I started buying Proud Source bottled water from Fresh Thyme.  What are your thoughts on this brand and aluminum bottle?
Thanks,
Laura

Dear Laura,
Great question and thanks for reading!  I spent some time looking into Proud Source and I have a two-part answer.

First, I think the very best option for bringing water with you is always going to be investing in a reusable container that you fill at home and on the go.  I take my Yeti with me everywhere and that works for me.  Other people use Kleen Kanteen with a screw top and that is what they like best.  Reusable is the best option because it eliminates the need for disposal or recycling altogether.

Second, if you have a reason that you absolutely need to have bottled water, this is the bottled water that you should buy.  I was skeptical at first but as I learned about Proud Source, I was really impressed.  Their water comes from a natural spring and undergoes a UV and Ozone disinfection process that is required for spring water.  The spring is located in Custer County, Idaho and comes from the Rocky Mountains.  Here is the really important part:  They only bottle their water in ALUMINUM!  No plastic, ever.  Amazing.  As I've said so many times before, aluminum can be recycled infinitely and it is recycled in every state.  Plastic bottles are unstable and most end up in the trash or ocean.

In conclusion, don't buy bottled water.  If you insist on buying bottled water, the least you can do is buy Proud Source.
