Believe it or not, it's October! My family is getting off to a poor start in the trash department. Today we put out a half a bag of garbage (I don't usually do that but there was some funk in there from when my daughter cleaned out the bird cage) and two tennis rackets. The tennis rackets were old, broken, and probably never actually used for tennis. I'm not really sure where they came from or what on Earth the kids used them for. I'm not sure how they escaped my wrath during The Great Purge of 2018. Without giving it much thought, I tossed them in the trash the day I grabbed one that had fallen down and the grip left my hand full of thick black sticky goo. Thinking about it now, there was probably something better I could have done with them. I should have donated them in case someone wanted a cheap racket that just needed some TLC or I could have looked into a way to recycle them. This is a process and I am still adjusting many of my habits. One step at a time. How did you weigh in this week?
This blog is my family's journey to living with less. We are exploring a zero waste life and blogging about it along the way. What the Waste?! is a comedic and informative source for how to start being environmentally responsible, informed about the dangers of plastic, and how to make better choices. Follow along with my family to see where to begin and what works. My promise to you is that I'll tell you what you need to know and keep it real along the way. You might just find that less is more!
