Un-Paper your Paper Towels
That's right, I want you to give up paper towels. Don't worry, it's easy because you are going to replace them with a reusable cotton alternative.
My family uses one roll of paper towels per year or less. We use paper towels when we make bacon to soak up the grease and then we toss them into the next bonfire that we have. Handsome Husband also uses a half sheet to oil the grill when the food he is grilling requires it and he uses a half sheet per week to dry off the thawed mouse he feeds the snake each week. We agree that this is an acceptable use of paper towels for this leg of our journey. One roll or less per year for a family of six, one dog, and one snake is pretty darn good.
Here is the part where you un-paper. We transitioned to un-paper towels last summer and it was actually a really easy change for us. I bought a 100 pack of 100 percent cotton shop towels from Amazon for the low low price of $22.99. As I mentioned in the original post, they did shrink some in the dryer but they still work great. I roll them up and keep them in a large old apothecary jar which looks nice. The few that you use really doesn't add anything to the laundry either.
So there you have it. Stop with the paper towels and get with the un-paper towels. It will save you money and the forests.
